Darren Bramen is an investment team leader and shareholder based in Pathstone’s Philadelphia metro area office. He has served families, family offices and foundations since joining the firm in 1999 after graduate school. Over decades of working together, his team of four professionals has developed a unique, close-knit style that combines caring, attentive client service and portfolio management with the development and implementation of customized estate and income tax planning solutions. Darren and his team conduct their planning work in close concert with clients and their tax and estate advisors.

With a grounding in finance, economics, income taxes, and estate planning, Darren brings to client engagement a broad point of view informed by a life path that began in Southern California and that led him East to Philadelphia. Having worked in family office settings since 1994, he enjoys talking through and analyzing delicate intra-family issues such as setting spending budgets, choosing the right time and method to make intra-family gifts, and how to approach home buying decisions for the next generation. He is also focused on the many quantitative issues facing family offices such as analyzing new investment concepts and optimizing the structure of charitable giving plans.

Darren received his MBA in Finance from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He has a BA in Business Economics with an emphasis in accounting from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He received his CPA license (now inactive) while working in public accounting in Southern California early in his career.

Darren is married with two daughters. He and his family enjoy racket sports, which they play year-round. He is a board member of the all-girls Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr, PA, where he serves on the finance committee. A fun fact about Darren is that he collects classic pinball machines, which he likes to share with friends.
