Eric Stephenson is managing director of integration and optimization at Pathstone. In this role, he partners with specialists across Pathstone’s departments to manage successful integrations with firms joining the Pathstone family. Eric focuses on preserving the unique strengths of each firm while enhancing client service through collaboration.

Before joining Pathstone, Eric served as chief operating officer, head of advisory, chief compliance officer, and investment committee member at Align Impact, a wealth management firm specializing in impact investing and alternative investments. During his six-year tenure, he helped grow the firm from $80 million to $4 billion in assets under advisement while serving ultra-high-net-worth families, family offices, and institutions.

Previously, Eric spent five years as portfolio director at the Cordes Foundation, where he constructed and managed a 100% mission-aligned portfolio across public and private markets. He began his career at Hamilton Lane conducting due diligence on private market investments and performing corporate finance work at Xerox.

Eric holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA®) and Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) designations. He serves on the board of directors for both the Cordes Foundation and Confluence Philanthropy. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance from Temple University and a Master of Arts from the University of the Pacific.

The Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) is a designation awarded to individuals who successfully complete the CFP Board’s initial exams, then continue ongoing annual education programs to sustain their skills and certification. The focus areas include financial planning, taxes, insurance, estate planning, and retirement saving.

The CAIA® designation is a globally recognized credential granted to individuals who have successfully completed the CAIA program and met the Association’s requirements. Use of the CAIA designation is authorized only for individuals who are in good standing with the CAIA Association.
