David Kahn serves as Executive Managing Director of Pathstone’s Los Angeles office and is responsible for spearheading the management of key client relationships in the region. With over 25 years of advisory experience, David advises ultra-high net worth individuals and families, as well as endowments and foundations, on a full array of wealth management solutions, including investment policy development, asset allocation, portfolio construction, risk management, and tax and estate planning. David is also a member of Pathstone’s Investment Committee, which is responsible for charting the strategic direction of all client investment portfolios.
David leverages a broad range of skills to develop sophisticated investment strategies and integrated wealth management plans for clients. Central to his approach is a foundation of inquisitive dialogue with clients regarding objectives, concerns and dreams for the future. The end result is customized solutions that holistically integrate investment, tax and estate planning goals for each client.
Prior to joining Pathstone in 2016, David spent seven years in similar capacities, as Managing Director at Convergent Wealth Advisors. David’s career in wealth management also includes four years as a Private Client Advisor with Wilmington Trust Company and ten years as Portfolio Manager with Roxbury Capital Management, including acting as a co-lead portfolio manager for large cap growth equities strategies representing over $2 billion in client assets. David began his career in New York as a senior investment management consultant, working with clients on asset allocation, manager selection, and performance reporting.
David received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Bucknell University and his Master’s degree in Business Administration (Finance) from New York University. He has passed the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Series 7, 63, and 65 exams. David is active in the Los Angeles community serving on the board of PS Arts. He is also a member of the Planned Giving Committee at Loyola High School in Los Angeles and an emeritus board member of the Pacific Palisades Baseball Association.
The Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) is a designation awarded to individuals who successfully complete the CFP Board’s initial exams, then continue ongoing annual education programs to sustain their skills and certification. The focus areas include financial planning, taxes, insurance, estate planning, and retirement saving.
