Michelle Johnston serves as Chief Financial Officer of Pathstone, providing executive leadership and strategic oversight of the firm’s finance organization. She is a shareholder and a member of the Executive Leadership team.
Michelle has over 24 years of experience in financial services with a particular focus in wealth and asset management. She is passionate about supporting business partners to help strategically grow the business. Her team is responsible for financial reporting, financial planning, corporate finance, engagements, technology and firm operations.
Prior to Pathstone, Michelle served as Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Strategy Officer and a member of the executive committee of TortoiseEcofin Investments. At TortoiseEcofin, she held a variety of different leadership positions and built out several functions across the firm. Additionally, she was an investment banker at Goldman Sachs & Co. for several years. Michelle has appeared in a variety of financial media outlets including Fox Business and CNBC. She graduated summa cum laude from DePauw University with a bachelor’s degree in economics. She is a Certified Financial Analyst.
Michelle is a busy mom of two teenagers. In her free time, she enjoys water skiing and boating at the lake with her family.
A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) is a professional designation given by the CFA Institute that measures and certifies the competence and integrity of financial analysts. Candidates are required to pass three levels of exams covering areas such as accounting, economics, ethics, money management, and security analysis.
