- Shareholder
Patrick Dougherty is a Managing Director in Pathstone’s Philadelphia metro area office. He serves as the lead portfolio manager for ultra-high-net-worth families across the country, helping them make informed financial decisions. Patrick is an advocate of evidence-based reasoning and setting realistic expectations for how a client’s wealth could change over time under various scenarios. He enjoys researching why strategies have succeeded or failed at times in the past to better understand their vulnerabilities and their range of potential outcomes in the future.
Prior to joining Pathstone, Patrick served as a portfolio manager with Veritable LP, where he started his career in 1999. He initially mentored under the firm’s Chief Investment Officer for several years before becoming a portfolio manager and partner in 2007. He is honored by the trust clients have placed in him over multiple (sometimes turbulent) decades and is proud of the part he has played in helping them achieve their financial goals.
Patrick earned his Bachelor of Science in Economics from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1999 with a dual concentration in Finance and Decision Processes. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation from the CFA Institute, which he earned in 2003.
A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) is a professional designation given by the CFA Institute that measures and certifies the competence and integrity of financial analysts. Candidates are required to pass three levels of exams covering areas such as accounting, economics, ethics, money management, and security analysis.
