Sarah Stein is an Executive Managing Director and shareholder at Pathstone, leading the day-to-day strategic management of the firm’s San Francisco office. Additionally, Sarah serves as a strategic investment advisor to multigenerational families and charitable endowments. Sarah is a member of Pathstone’s Regional Leadership Team and Investment Committee.

Before joining Pathstone, Sarah was a Managing Partner at Hall Capital Partners, an Outsourced Chief Investment Office (OCIO) that advised on $45 billion in client assets. She was also a member of the firm’s Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Management Committee, and Investment Review Committee. Sarah began her career at Hall Capital in the Portfolio Management practice. She transitioned to the Research Group, where she held several roles, including Co-Director of Research and led the firm’s initial work in Full Consequence Investing. Her prior experience includes working in the Investment Management Division at Goldman Sachs & Co., the Fisher Family Foundation, and teaching English in Guangzhou, China for Princeton-in-Asia.

Sarah graduated cum laude from Princeton University with a bachelor’s degree and earned both an MBA and MA from Stanford University. Sarah serves as a Trustee of Princeton University and previously served as a member of the Investment Committee for Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Strategic Investment Fund and the Princeton University Endowment (PRINCO). She is also involved with YPO.

Sarah and her husband live in San Francisco, CA with two amazing kids. Outside of work, she enjoys skiing with her family and exploring the world on family trips.
